Revolt against Samy Vellu grows

KLANG, May 25 — Rebellion against MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu is growing, three sacked MIC leaders have claimed today.

The trio — former central working committee (CWC) members, K.P. Samy and G. Kumar Aamaan, and sacked Youth deputy chief V. Mugilan — also want Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to intervene in the growing party crisis.

“More CWC members are going to speak out at the risk of being also being sacked,” said K.P. Samy.

He said Najib should step in as the situation was only going to get worse.

“It’s Barisan Nasional (BN) and not Samy Vellu which is going to be the loser if the situation continues,” he said

Samy said many CWC members were unhappy at their sacking and wanted them to appeal against the decision but they have yet to decide if they would.

They were sacked after demanding the embattled party president to step-down ahead of his September 2011 deadline.

Meanwhile he said the Indian community would not return to MIC or vote for BN as long as Samy Vellu continues as the party president.

He claimed this had been proven in the Hulu Selangor by-election in April.

KP Samy also lashed out at Samy Vellu for treating MIC as his personal kingdom.

He said Samy Vellu had appointed his family members into the party leadership, his clansmen as ministers and to head government-linked companies affiliated to MIC.

“Exactly whose interest are they representing?” he asked.

He said they would seek an appointment to meet Najib to air their grievances.
